Knit Wear Research- Designers I Love

Hey everyone! So I am getting back into the grind of school and I am really excited about the research that I have been doing for my Knitwear Class. We are 2 weeks in at this point and already crazy busy making swatches and learning new techniques which is just making me think even more about what I want my final project to be! I have come across a few designers that I love and that I think I am going to use as inspiration to my own personal knitwear style so I thought I would share them with you!

Mark Fast is my favorite knitwear designer at this point. He is a 30 year old Canadian knitwear designer who studies at Central Saint Martins. He designs his knits by hand and forms them onto the body as he knits. His designs highlight the body and provide intriguing volume, shape and cut outs that add interest to each design. He is able to incorporate all of these elements as well as layering all while providing symmetry which makes each piece look clean and not overworked.

Another designer that I found during my research is Louise Goldin. The thing that I love the most about these looks are the volume, structure and layering that is present in each piece.

Dennis Basso is yet another knitwear designer whose looks look flawless and easy. I love all of the different techniques that he is able to incorporate into each garment and still make it look cohesive.

Moving forward with my knitwear designs I think I am going to take a large amount of inspiration from Mark Fast with details from the other two designers. I love details and that is one thing that always comes through with my designs so I am sure there will be lots of techniques and details in my final look. Within the next few weeks I will begin to nail down a final concept and begin sketching so make sure to check back! Thanks for reading!
